The National Food Protection Collaboratory is a web-based community of people, businesses & organizations dedicated to the goal of keeping the world’s food supply safe and abundant.

Using the world’s best scientific, engineering and research talent, our mission is to provide practical science-based knowledge and a suite of eight technology tools to the food industry.

The ISFP provides a learning environment that emphasizes the importance of critical thinking, effective decision-making and leadership skills that are essential in the 21st century.

What can I expect from NFPC?

The National Food Protection Collaboratory portal (NFPC) is a web-based, world-wide community of people dedicated to the goal of keeping the world’s food supply safe and abundant. Through this portal, members will gain access to our tools and educational events.


The H-E-B Manufacturing Division Quality Assurance Team participated in a beta test for Food Mapper and Food Defense TQ and found them to be great tools.  They performed as designed and were extremely useful in identifying potential food defense GAPs based on the self assessments conducted within the Manufacturing Division.

FoodQuestTQ Tools

Food DefenseTQ is a “Yes/No” perpetual, self-evaluation assessment, which may, as an option, be filled out by different key facility personnel to determine their food defense vulnerabilities. Food SafetyTQ is a “Yes/No” perpetual, self-evaluation assessment, which may, as an option, be filled out by different key food operations personnel to determine their ability to make safe product in a food-safe environment.
Food Mapper or, as some would call it, “Regulation Explorer” provides a simple means to search Federal and State regulations to determine if you are making legal, safe product. POISON is a data repository located in the “cloud” that allows you to search on past contamination events, whether they be accidental or intentional.
Food Defense Architect is a comprehensive, easy to use and inexpensive computer tool that helps food companies develop robust food defense plans that are tailored to their individual needs based on their position along the food supply chain.
